Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty near Hebuterue on 29th March 1918. This N.C.O. organised and led a bombing party to the attack at very short notice showing exceptional ability and initiative in the handling of his party. Against, superior numerical odds and in a trench well swept, by an enemy machine gun he carried on with fine dash until wounded at the head of his party.'
