Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He occupied a knoll and brought heavy fire to bear on an enemy field howitzer. Though heavily fired on, he inflicted several casualties on the enemy and then charged the gun with his troop and captured it. He showed magnificent courage and initiative.'
