Military Medal 'L/Cpl HARMER was hit in the leg at the commencement of the advance through GLENCORSE WOOD east of YPRES on the 20th September 1917, but remained in charge of his Lewis Gun Section. Later on when the whole of his section was killed by a shell, he remained alone on duty with a Lewis Gun during a very heavy bombardment, and would not be evacuated until the company was relieved.'
