Military Medal 'On the morning of the 19th September, 1917, while the guns were firing, the position near HOOGE was bombarded with 15 centimetre H.E. and one of the pits was set on fire and a quantity of ammunition exploded. Gunner ADDISON immediately rushed to the pit and assisted Lieutenant NEEDS in putting out the fire saving several hundred rounds at great personal risk as the ammunition was exploding all round him at the time and enemy shells kept falling near the pit.'
