Military Medal 'During an operation near MERRIS on June 28th 1918, L/Cpl. HARRIS was in charge of a party of linesmen and showed great courage in mending wires under heavy enemy shell fire. He personally took charge of the new line to a forward signal station after the ground had been won and then, in face of heavy machine gun fire and shelling maintained the line until the operation was successfully completed.'
