Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty whilst engaged as Streatcher Bearer on the morning of 23rd August, 1918, during the construction of a strong point near ST. MARTINS WOOD (Map reference, Sheet 62D, R.29.b.4.3.). The strong point was subjected to heavy shell and Machine Gun fire, causing many casualties and Private HARRIS repeatedly rescued the wounded under heavy fire and showed great courage throughout. He was undoubtedly instrumental in saving the lives of some of his comrades.'
