Transferred to SS 'Orissa', Nova Scotia, 21 September 1917; disembarked Liverpool, 3 October 1917; marched into 14th Training Bn, Codford, 4 October 1917; marched into 12th Training Bn, Codford, 11 April 1918; promoted to Lance Corporal, 23 September 1918; marched into No 4 Command Depot, Hurdcott, 4 December 1918; rank reverts to Private, 4 December 1918.

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Demosthenes', 16 January 1919; disembarked Melbourne, 2 March 1919, and proceeded to 1st Military District. Discharged Brisbane, 1 April 1919.
