Found guilty at Fovant, 1 August 1918, of being absent without leave, 10.00 pm , 23 July, until apprehended by Military Police, 3.00 pm, 30 July 1918: awarded 18 days' Field Punishment No 2; forfeited total of 26 days' pay.

Proceeded to France through Folkestone, 29 August 1918; marched into Australian Infantry Base Depot, 31 August 1918; moved into the field, 3 September 1918; taken on strength of 4th Bn, 5 September 1918; detached to 11th Light Trench Mortar Battery, 26 September 1918.
