War service: Egypt, Gallipoli, Middle East Joined 10th Light Horse at Gallipoli, 25 October 1915. Disembarked Alexandria, Egypt, 26 December 1915 (general Gallipoli evacuation). Appointed Driver, 27 January 1916. Found guilty of conduct prejudicial to good order and military discipline in that he removed a remount from the Remount Line of the Divisional Transport Park between the evening of 23 May 1917 and morning of 25 May 1917 without authority to do so and in its place returned a horse belonging to 10th Light Horse Regiment with false marks on it. Awarded 14 days' Field Punishment No. 2. Admitted to 14th Australian General Hospital, Port Said, 21 September 1918 (shoulder injury: in the opinion of the CO the injury was incurred in the performance of military duty; he was not to blame, and no other person was to blame). Rejoined 10th Light Horse, 27 November 1918. Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Oxfordshire', 10 July 1919; disembarked Western Australia, 4 August 1919; discharged, 3 October 1919.
