Admitted to No 14 Field Ambulance, 8 October 1916, and transferred to 5th Divisional Rest Station the same day (phthisis); to No 2 Australian Casualty Clearing Station, 10 October 1916; to No 35 General Hospital, Calais, 16 October 1916; to England, 21 October 1916; to No 1/5 Northern General Hospital, Leicester, 21 October 1916; to No 1 Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Harefield, 29 November 1916; discharged, 14 January 1917.

Commenced return to Australia from Southampton on board HS 'Kanowna', 14 January 1917; disembarked Sydney, 11 March 1917; discharged (medically unfit: pulmonary tuberculosis), 3 July 1917.
