Military Medal 'At HANEBEKE WOOD on 20th September 1917 this man during the first advance volunteered to assist the only stretcher bearer left in the Company to carry back a badly wounded man to the R.A.P. afterwards reporting back to his company. Throughout the remainder of the day, owing to heavy casualties amongst Company runners, he performed the duty of runner, showing absolute disregard for personal safety.'
