Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For fine courage and devotion to duty. At Mont St. Quentin, during the advance on 1 September, 1918, he cleared an enemy trench single handed, and captured twenty of the enemy. At Beaurevoir, on 3 October, 1918, he carried messages across open country under heavy rifle and machine gun fire.'
