Military Medal 'Before dawn on 25.9.17 at the Regimental Aid Post North of POLYGON racecourse two bearers had gone out to being in a wounded man, when a heavy shelling commenced. Some time passed and these men did not return so Private HAYSON went out to search for them. He did not find them for a considerable time during which he was completely exposed to shell fire. Eventually he found them, and finding they were lost guided them back to AID POST. His action showed great bravery and coolness and probably saved the lives of these three men.'
