Embarked Alexandria on HMT 'Transylvania' and proceeded to join the British Expeditionary Force, 1 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, 8 June 1916. Wounded in action, 8 August 1916; admitted to 2nd Australian Field Ambulance, 9 August 1916, and transferred to 44th Casualty Clearing Station (shrapnel wound, right arm); to 13th General Hospital, Boulogne, 10 August 1916 (right arm amputated).
