Found guilty, 20 May 1918, of when on Active Service being absent without leave from 6.20 am, 9 May, until apprehended, 3.20 pm, 9 May 1918: awarded 14 days' Field Punishment No 2, and forfeited a total of 15 days' pay.

Wounded in action, 2 June 1918 (gun shot wound, left leg, compound fracture tibia), and admitted to 14th Australian Field Ambulance; transferred to 6th General Hospital, Rouen, 4 June 1918; to England, 8 June 1918, and admitted to Alexandra Hospital, Cosham, 9 June 1918 (gun shot wound: sever); transferred to 3rd Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford,8 July 1918; discharged to No 3 Command Depot, Hurdcott, 2 August 1918.

Marched out to No 1 Command Depot, Sutton Veny, 13 September 1918.

Marched out to Overseas Training Brigade, 21 November 1918.

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Orsova', 8 January 1919; disembarked Melbourne, 27 February 1919; discharged (medically unfit: gun shot wound, left leg), Melbourne, 14 March 1919.
