War service: Egypt, Gallipoli Proceeded to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, Gallipoli, 12 April 1915. Wounded in action, 28 June 1915 (gun shot wound, right side); admitted to No 2 Australian General Hospital, Ghezireh, Egypt (wound and rheumatism), 2 July 1915; discharged to Base Details from Helouan Convalescent Camp. 9 August 1915; marked fit for active service, 11 August 1915. Commenced return to Australia, nursing duties on board HMAT 'Port Sydney', departed Suez, 24 June 1916; arrived Melbourne, 22 July 1916. Re-embarked Melbourne on board HMAT 'Hymettus' with AMC Details, 12 September 1916; disembarked, 18 October 1916. Taken on strength, 1st Light Horse Training Regiment, Moascar, 30 October 1916.
