Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during operations on the 5th October, 1917 in the vicinity of ZONNEBEKE. Cpl. HEARD conducted parties of men through heavy fire to the advanced works with engineering stores, successfully keeping his Company supplied throughout the night. This N.C.O. also did good work during the previous advance on the 20th September. His conduct whilst under fire has been an example to all. East of YPRES.'
