Medals

Military Medal

'For gallantry, devotion to duty and initiative as a runner during the operations East of ZONNEBEKE from 28/30 October 1917. This man repeatedly carried important messages through heavy barrages, and on arrival of the relieving troops he volunteered to guide them to their positions. When two platoons were missing, without further instructions he searched for them under heavy shell fire, and finding them scattered in shell holes, collected them and guided them to their posts, enabling the relief to be completed.'
