Distinguished Conduct Medal 'On 1 September, 1918, during the attack on Mont St. Quentin, his company was op[erating in the enemy trench system north of the village. After his officers had become casualties he immediately took charge, and, gallantly pushing on ahead of his men, gained his objectives, and the consolidation under close fire of the enemy machine gunners and snipers.'
