Military Medal

'On 4th July, 1918, during the operation at VAIRE WOOD, east of CORBIE, Private HENDERSON displayed great gallantry and devotion to duty as a Regimental Stretcher Bearer. He went forward with the first wave right upto the final objective, bandaging wounded on his way and then starting to carry stretcher cases back. He worked constantly and untiringly until all the wounded had been cleared. During this time he was exposed to consistent shell and machine gun fire.'
