War service: Western Front Embarked Brisbane on HMAT 'Marathon', 27 October 1916; disembarked Plymouth, England, 9 January 1917; marched into 13th Training Bn, Codford, 10 January 1917. Admitted to hospital, Parkhouse, 7 February 1917; transferred to hospital, Sutton Veny, 10 February 1917 (not yet determined); marched into 13th Training Bn, Codford, 2 March 1917. Proceeded to France through Folkestone, 10 April 1917; marched into 4th Australian Divisional Base Depot, Etaples, 11 April 1917; moved into the field, 14 April 1917; taken on strength of 52nd Bn, 16 April 1917. Admitted to 11th Casualty Clearing Station, 9 June 1917, and transferred to 4th Stationary Hospital (shell shock); transferred to 58th General Hospital, St. Omer, 28 June 1917. Proceeded to England on HS 'St. Andrew', 13 August 1917; admitted to Graylingwell War Hospital, Chichester, 14 August 1917; transferred to 3rd Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 20 August 1917; discharged on furlough, 3 September 1917.
