Military Medal

'During the attack on 9th August 1918 east of AMIENS this Signaller assisted in running a line to the final objective under very heavy artillery and Machine Gun fire. Owing to the heavy shelling this line was frequently cut and it was due to this man's courage and devotion to duty by constantly patrolling the line and repairing breaks that communication was made practicable. This Signallers conduct was consistently brave throughout the operation.'
