'This N.C.O. did excellent work during the whole of the operations in front of REINCOURT on 3rd May. During the whole of the engagement he led his men in a most gallant style. On the men becoming disorganised he reorganised them, excercising great control, and setting a splendid example by his action, coolness and courage.'
