'On the night of 12/13th June near LE BRIDOUX Signaller Higgs was telephone man. He was wounded early in the affair by the "back kick" from one of our guns, but he stuck to the telephone and remained there until all of the party had gone back. it was due to the signals being transmitted quickly and correctly that the Artillery Barrage was brought down, thus minimising our losses.'
