Military Medal 'Near HERLEVILLE, East of AMIENS, during minor operations on the 14th August, 1918, this N.C.O. had charge of a Stokes Gun. In co-operation with the infantry advance he silenced 3 enemy Machine Guns and enabled the advance to continue. He then advanced, through a heavy shell-fire barrage, took up a forward position with his gun and by accurate fire on a Communication Trench enabled the attackers to capture an enemy Machine Gun post. Although in a very exposed position and under heavy fire he served his gun in the most courageous manner.'
