Medals

Military Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry. On 20th September 1917 ner WESTHOEK this N.C.O. was i/c of a carrying party, bringing up ammunition to the newly won positions. Although slightly wounded in the early stages he continued to lead his party, until he was again wounded, - on this occasion, very seriously. He then insisted upon his men completing their work before allowing himself to be attended to. His self-sacrificing example was a splendid demonstration to his men of their importance of the work on which they were engaged.'
