Military Medal 'On the 7th June, 1917, south of MESSINES for magnificent conduct and devotion to duty whilst acting as a stretcher bearer. He carried wounded throughout the entire operation extending from 3 a.m. on the 7th to 7 a.m. on the 9th. The greatest part of his work was carried out under heavy hostile fire, and he acquitted himself admirably, setting a fine example to his comrades.'
