Military Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. On 9th October, 1917, at BROODSEINDE this linesman laid a line to the forward posts under extremely heavy fire. In spite of continuous shelling and machine gun fire he spent long periods of time repairing breaks regardless of personal risk and exposure to danger. Owing to his efforts intelligence from our forward posts was able to be quickly transmitted, and the result was conducive to the success of our operations.'
