Military Medal 'During the operations of 23rd August, 1918 at HERLEVILLE WOOD near FOUCAUCOURT, Private HODGSON took charge of a gun and despite heavy shell and machine gun fire engaged and silenced an enemy trench mortar which was causing casualties to our Infantry. Private HODGSON's grit and determination throughout the whole advance was a splendid example.'
