Military Medal

'This man is a member of the Pioneer Section of the Battalion. On the morning of the 11th April 1917 after the assault on the HINDENBURG Line near REINCOURT he volunteered to go out into "no Man's Land" to attend to and bring in wounded men lying there. He continued his mission of mercy throughout the day and was instrumental in bringing in many wounded. At times he was subjected to heavy Machine Gun fire but this did not deter him. He is recommended for distinction.'
