Meritorious Service Medal

'For gallant conduct and devotion to duty in the Field. When in charge of CAMON GARDENS from 13th May, 1918 to 20th June, 1918, despite heavy and consistent shelling this N.C.O.. remained on duty with his party, and not only maintained a supply of fruit and green vegetables for this Division during the period, but carried out a considerable amount of developmental work, the benefit of which will shortly be reaped by the troops. Many casualties were caused in this locality, and other parties withdrawn, but this N.C.O. expressed a desire to carry on, and set a splendid example of courage, initiative and energy to those under him. But for his conduct the supplies would not have been maintained. His work has been consistently excellent throughout the last six months.'
