Wounded in action, 29 September 1918 (gun shot wound, left arm). Transferred to England, 1 October 1918, and admitted to Queen Mary's Military Hospital, Whalley, Lancashire, 2 October 1918; to 3rd Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 21 October 1918. Granted furlough, 24 January 1919, to report to No. 1 Command Depot, Sutton Veny, 11 February 1919.

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Derbyshire, 2 March 1919; disembarked Melbourne, 17 April 1919; discharged, 17 June 1919.
