Transferred to 2nd Divisional Ammunition Column, 18 June 1916; taken on strength, 20 June 1916.

Transferred to 5th Field Artillery Brigade, 16 August 1916, and posted to 15th Battery.

Admitted to 7th Field Ambulance, 5 March 1917, and transferred to 2nd Divisional Rest Station (chronic rheumatism); discharged to duty, 11 March 1917; rejoined unit, in the field, 15 March 1917.

On leave to United Kingdom, 6 July 1917; rejoined unit from leave, 28 July 1917.

Wounded in action, Belgium, 16 October 1917 (gas, and admitted to 3rd Field Ambulance, and transferred to 3rd Casualty Clearing Station; to Ambulance train No 12, 17 October 1917; to 54th General Hospital, 17 October 1917; to England, 20 October 1917, and admitted to 1st Birmingham War Hospital, Rednal, 21 October 1917; transferred to 1st Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Harefield, 24 December 1917; discharged on furlough, 28 December 1917, to report to No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 11 January 1918.

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Osterley', 15 April 1918; disembarked Melbourne, 13 April 1918; discharged (medically unfit), Sydney, 21 June 1918.
