Found guilty, 13 February 1916, of being absent without leave in that he had a leave of absence until 2200 hours, 12 February 1916, but failed to report until 2100 hours, 13 February 1916: awarded 5 days' confined camp and forfeited 2 days' pay. Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 17 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 23 June 1916. Killed in action, 19 July 1916.
