War service: Western Front Embarked Sydney on HMAT 'Hororata', 14 June 1917; disembarked Liverpool, 26 August 1917; marched into Pioneer Training Bn, Fovant, 27 August 1917. Proceeded to France through Southampton, 30 January 1918; marched into Australian Infantry Base Depot, Havre, 31 January 1918; moved into the field, 3 February 1918; taken on strength of 4th Pioneer Bn, 9 February 1918. Admitted to 3rd Field Ambulance, 2 April 1918, and transferred to 29th Casualty Clearing Station (bronchitis); to Ambulance Train No 42, 3 April 1918; admitted to 24th General Hospital, Etaples, 3 April 1918. Proceeded to England on HS 'Stad Antwerpen', 7 April 1918, and admitted to Princess Christian Military Hospital, Englefield Green (chronic bronchitis); transferred to 1st Auxiliary Hospital, Harefield, 12 April 1918; discharged to No 2 Command Depot, 24 April 1918.
