Military Medal 'In the operations against enemy posts at MONT DE MERRIS near STRAZEELE on night 29th/30th May, 1918, Private HOLT moved out with two comrades and bombed a machine gun which had been harassing his platoon during the consolidation of a newly gained objective. His prompt action silenced the gun and his courage inspired the remainder of the platoon.'
Source: 'Commonwealth Gazette' No. 23 Date: Bar to Military Medal 'For very skilful and daring patrol work during operations near LIHONS on 10th and 11th August 1918. Private HOLT volunteered and led a daylight patrol through the trenches running towards the enemy and successfully located the enemy positions and machine gun. Making full use of the ground his patrol worked their way forward and sniped several of the enemy, putting two machine guns out of action. He set a splendid example throughout.'
