'For valuable services rendered and devotion to duty, skill, and initiative, during the year 1918. This Non Commissioned Officer was senior superintendent in charge of the Divisional Signal Office and in that capacity he handled with marked skill, the heavy signal traffic during the fighting and movement of this year, often averaging two thousand telegrams and sealed packets per day. His organising ability has been responsible for the strictest economy in personnel in the Signal Office, and an absolute minimum of delay to all Signal traffic. He has fostered an amiable disposition of all men working in the signal office, and contributed largely to a high standard of telegraphic and telephonic communication being attained, and the advancement of the Despatch Rider Letter Service throughout the Division.'
