Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. Seeing that our advance was likely to be held up, he organized a party and attacked a strong point, capturing eleven prisoners. He showed great initiative and resource at a critical moment. He was wounded shortly afterwards.'
