Military Medal

'During the attack on BROODSEINDE on 4th October, 1917, this N.C.O. particularly distinguished himself for devotion to duty, determination and faithfulness in assisting his Officer to get supplies of material through to the front area night after night, whilst the Division was in the line and often under very heavy shell fire. It was by this Sergeants splendid example and enthusiasm that the men were inspired to press forward to their objective when the difficulties seemed greatest. His coolness and bravery were of invaluable assistance to his party in enabling them to perform their work successfully.'
