War service: embarked from Sydney, 25 October 1916; disembarked Devonport, England, 28 December 1916, and marched in to 14th Training Bn.

Proceeded overseas to France, 13 March 1917; taken on strength, 54th Bn, 12 April 1917.

Admitted to 8th Field Ambulance, 1 June 1917 (pyrexia, unknown origin); transferred to 5th General Hospital, Rouen, 11 June 1917. Transferred to England on board HS 'Panama', 22 June 1917; admitted to 2nd Birmingham War Hospital, Northfield, 23 June 1917. Transferred to 3rd Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 17 July 1917. Discharged from hospital and marched in to No. 3 Command Depot, Weymouth, 15 August 1917. Marched out to Overseas Training Brigade, Perham Downs, 5 September 1917.

Proceeded overseas to France, 16 October 1917; rejoined unit, 7 November 1917.

Wounded in action, 24 March 1918 (gun shot wound, elbow and abdomen); treated at 15th Field Ambulance; transferred to 1st Australian Casualty Clearing Station; died of wounds, 24 March 1918.
