Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty whilst in command of a company during operations east of Roisel, 11th-21st September 1918. When the enemy put down a heavy barrage and counter attacked he handled his company with great skill, eventually beating off the enemy and consolidating the positon. Near Hargicourt on 18th September, in command of the support company, he showed initiative and determination in helping the troops on the left flank to hold their ground against a counter attack. At all times he set a fine example of coolness and courage.'
