Military Medal 'This N.C.O. on the 25th September at GLENCORSE WOOD displayed great bravery and coolness. Throughout the morning under very heavy shell fire he attended to the wounded and saw to the safety of his own men regardless of his own safety. Later he organised and brought his men through a heavy barrage to reinforce the line and although under constant and heavy shell fire he superintended the digging in of his men. Later he was wounded, and although unable to move about so freely, continued to supervise and encourage all about him until finally evacuated. His example of coolness and bravery had a splendid effect on his men.'
