Meritorious Service Medal 'For most conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the period of the advance from ROISEL to ST. SOUPLET, 17th September, to 20th October, 1918. This N.C.O. was in charge of the ammunition supply. Most of the carting had to be done by night owing to the close proximity of the Battery to the front line, great difficulty being experienced in finding the position owing to the daily moves forward. Throughout the whole operation this N.C.O. showed great initiative and resourcefulness in getting through the many barrages that were encountered and his sterling example and tactfulness set to the men under his command resulted in only 8 casualties to animals during the whole period.'
