Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 29 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 5 April 1916. Admitted to 7th General Hospital, St Omer, 20 April 1916 (mumps); transferred to Base, 10 May 1916; to 3rd Canadian General Hospital, Boulogne, 10 May 1916; to England, 26 May 1916, and admitted to 3rd London General Hospital, Wandsworth; transferred to 1st Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Harefield, 6 June 1916. Discharged on furlough (date not recorded); readmitted to 1st Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Harefield, from furlough, 24 July 1916 (peritonitis: mild); transferred to No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 31 July 1916, for return to Australia.
