Medaille D'Honneur Avec Glaives (en Argent) Source: 'Commonwealth Gazette' No. 119 Date: Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During the offensive east of HAMEL on the morning of the 8th August, 1918, this N.C.O. was in charge of the pack animals attached to "C" Battery. About forty minutes after Zero when the guns were to go forward, he had great difficulty in getting his mules up to the guns, owing to shell fire and casualties to his drivers. The mules became demoralised by the heavy shelling. Notwithstanding this, by his indomitable pluck and perseverance, he got the guns forward. his actions in tenaciously sticking to his task under such adverse circumstances set his follows a splendid example and was most praiseworthy.'
