Military Medal 'Is recommended for great bravery and devotion to duty in action near HAMEL WOOD, east of CORBIE on 4th July, 1918. Early in the action this N.C.O.'s Platoon Commander was wounded and he immediately took command of the Platoon and proved himself an able leader throughout. His untiring efforts during the consolidation and for the remainder of the tour were excellent, and his coolness and daring had a most inspiring effect on his men. Always cheerful, he generally supervised the consolidation, and his clear judgment in the selection of positions was proved by the comparatively few casualties that the Platoon had after the final objective was reached. His work was of the highest order and is well worthy of recognition.'
