Wounded in action, 20 June 1916 (gun shot wounjd, right shoulder), and admitted to 2nd Casualty Clearing Station; transferred to 4th General Hospital, Camiers, 23 June 1916 (dangerously ill); to England, 11 July 1916, and admitted to 2nd Southern General Hospital, Bristol, 12 July 1916; transferred to 1st Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Harefield, 29 August 1916; to 2nd Auxiliary Hospital, Southall, 3 September 1916; to Queen Mary Convalescent Hospital, Roehampton, 29 October 1916; discharged on furlough, 18 January 1917, to report back to hospital, 2 February 1917.
