Military Medal

'For gallantry and devotion to duty. On the 11th August, 1918, during our attack on CREPEY WOOD, L/Cpl. HOWE'S Section came into contact with an enemy machine gun which opened fire. He immediately got his Lewis Gun into action and continued to fire until his gun was damaged and himself wounded. Despite his wounds he then rushed the enemy gun position, capturing it and turned the gun on the retiring Germans, killing three and wounding four. He showed great devotion to duty and set a fine example to his section.'
