Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the attack on WARFUSEE near AMIENS on 8th August, 1918. When the first objective had been taken and the Infantry were advancing round WARFUSEE, a machine gun in the town was firing heavily on the Infantry who had opened out and gone round the town. Howie, who was established in the first objective, hearing the gun, volunteered with Private Wilson to silence it. On entering the village they located the gun, captured it, 4 prisoners and 3 more guns in a cellar in the village.'
