Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He was in charge of the extreme right post of our line, which the enemy attacked heavily, driving out the garrison with bombs. He also reorganized the remaining men of his section, and leading them back to the post re-established it, capturing and killing twenty of the enemy. He was severely wounded.'
